The modular aspect made it perfect for my tank. It is acrylic so it has a weird opening and an odd footprint. The modular design also allowed it to be shipped in a normal box so the shipping was affordable. Assembling it was easy and quick. It did a great job of clearing the water. The photo shows the difference after only 30 minutes.

This undergravel filter is impressive. I have a cube tank and was able to cover nearly all of the bottom. It also saved me from having to fabricate protection so that my large rocks don’t crack my glass. No sponge filter to scape around also. The water has been crystal clear however I am not fully stocked yet. Very happy.

Incredibly versatile I would recommend a power head or two to make mini rapid get oxygen into the water the way a river does it

I really like the new UGF. I currently have (4) 10 gallon aquariums set up with it and I'm very happy. I like that it takes up less room in my aquarium and I'm hoping that it benefits plant roots in the long term. At first I get a bacterial bloom when installing the UGF but in a matter of days it's cleared up. Here you can see one that's been set up for weeks and 3 that are newly set up

Absolutely fantastic under gravel filter! I love how customizable it is. It was really easy to assemble and change as my tank layout changed (prior to adding the gravel). I loved it so much I redesigned my 75 gallon tank to include the Aquarium Co-op under gravel filter as well. I cannot wait for my plants to fill in the background of both tanks. If you are hesitant, don’t worry. I’m sure you will love it. I do!

1. It’s modular. I can customize the layout to work around large rocks and other hardscape without worrying about breaking the filter.

2. It’s incredibly easy to install. When I needed extra filtration in my 75-gallon, I simply scooted the substrate out of the way, added the grates, and covered everything back up. Done!

I wish i had these filters before i started my tanks. I recently redid a 10 gallon cube that looked like chocolate milk no mater how long i ran a hang on back full of polishing pads. After a few hours the tank was crystal clear. Even today i added a little more substrate and it made a cloud that disappeared in about 30 minutes.

I just set this up a week ago and it's really working great. There are few things that I really think the Aquarium did well with this product. Unlike most under gravel filters, you can pick to place the uplift tube anywhere in the tank, instead of the corner. Also, the black uplift tubes, combined with a black background is great solution if you want to hide your filtration. It's much easier to hide than a sponge filter. I set this up on a new tank build and a cleared the water up really quickly. The water has been crystal clear since I installed it. Great product and looking forward to using it long term.

I absolutely love my new aquarium co-op under gravel filter. It is amazing how much water flow you get out of this. I used 2 kits to cover the bottom of my 55 gallon aquarium. Right now I have four uplift tubes and it is circulating the water great. I would not hesitate if you’re thinking about trying this.

Bought this for my 29 gallon tank. Very easy to assemble and fit my tank well. Filter is working well with no issues. Great product.

I have used hang on the back filters, and sponge filters. I left the hobby five years ago. Cleaning sponge filters is just gross and hang on the backs overflow. I hated seeing them in my tank when I was trying to make the tank look good. I was just done. The under-gravel filter made me set up a new tank (second tank in the works too). Super easy to set up. The flow is better then just a sponge filter and still controllable better then a hang on the back. Thank you Aquarium Co-op for getting back into the hobby!

This is a simple product to assemble. However, as a first time purchaser of this product, I believe a one sheet flyer with basic assembly pictures would help give confidence to consumers that they are on the right track.

It’s strange to think that an under gravel filter could be improved, but this one is as easy and flexible in its use as I think they could possibly be. I have limited experience with this type of filtration, but I like it at least as well as sponges after a month of use. The real test will be to see what I think in 2 years, but if you’re looking for a few filter and have air running, this is a good option.

The order was packaged really well. The plants came in nice and healthy. This is the first undergravel filter that I have ever used. It was very easy to assemble and one box is enough for 2 gallon tanks!

I've been really happy with this undergravel filter. I have it covering half of my 36 gallon bowfront and also in a 3 gallon beta tank. I love how the tiles fit together and make it usable for all tank sizes. I plan on installing it in some of my 10 gallons when I swap out the sand for gravel.

For the 36 gallon, I was able to move the gravel to one side, put the plates down and then put the gravel back over it so you don't need to do a full tear down to install it.

This is my favorite filter that I’ve used do far! I have used Hang on back filters. The undergravel filter is easier to clean because all you need to do to clean the filter is to gravel vac the tank. No pads to clean or change, and the impeller doesn’t have to be serviced. I have used the sponge filter also. The Undergravel filter is better because it is air driven like the sponge filter, without having a big sponge in your tank. I love that. It was easy to set up. The only pain was removing everythingfrom the tank, including gravel, so I could install this new filter.

This kit is super easy to put together and very customizable. Amazing product will buy again!

I’ve successfully converted four tanks, and I’m pleased with the results so far. However, I’ve accumulated a substantial amount of leftover grids since two of the tanks are 10-gallon tanks, and one is a 5.5-gallon tank. The fourth tank is a 29-gallon tank for my endler’s once it’s cycled and seasoned. I’m eagerly waiting for additional risers to become available so that I can utilize the leftover grids on another tank or two.

As a returning fish keeper from a 10+ year hiatus, I am very happy with this filter. With the accumulated knowledge of the YouTube aquarium fish keepers I have been able to relearn old things and new things. That’s also how I found Aquarium Co-op. For a while I was battling balancing fish feeding, plant health and micro algae bloom. I made the switch from mostly inert stone gravel, some pourus stones and a sponge filter. To this underground filter and mainly Fluval stratum with the old pourus stones. My TDS readings has been solid, stable and the water clarity is awesome.

Assembly is very easy. Notch tabs for where sides connect to each other and the up pipe glides on the sliding rails.

I was able to create two tanks with one kit. My fish tank and smaller plant/aquascape/backup tank. My fish tank was able to have near 100% coverage while my plant tank has about 70% coverage.
